Dagmar Müller joins The Research Institute for Industrial Economics
Congratulations on your new job, Dagmar! What will you be doing?
I am working with IFN as a researcher. IFN has a strong track record on questions related to entrepreneurship and I hope to contribute to a better understanding of the functioning of the labor market through my research on how social networks affect job matching between workers and firms.
What was the focal point of your thesis?
A focal point of my thesis is the role of networks and the education system for labor market entry and students’ long term career prospects and, more specifically, how the reliance on social contacts interacts with conditions outside individuals’ control, such as business cycle fluctuations or changes in education policy.
What do you think that your research and your time at UU will bring to your new job?
My research is empirical in nature and I have greatly profited from my time at Uppsala University and IFAU due to their strong profile in applied empirical research and particularly in labor economics.
